Rooted in farming.
Driven by questions.

I’m Dr. Gregg Ibendahl, a farm management and agricultural finance specialist and an associate professor of agricultural economics at Kansas State University.

I grew up working on my family’s grain and beef farm in southern Illinois. That experience continues to shape the questions I ask: What makes a farm profitable? How should a business weigh an investment? What can the numbers tell us about the next decision?

My career spans Extension, research, and teaching at the University of Kentucky, Mississippi State University, and K-State. My work includes farm financial analysis, crop budgets, land rental rates, machinery costs, input prices, and crop yield projections.

I earned my Ph.D. in agricultural economics at the University of Illinois, an MBA at Northern Illinois University, and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural mechanization at Southern Illinois University. A computer science minor helped lay the foundation for my interest in building useful analytical tools.

Today, I share analysis through Agricultural Economics on Substack and Little Pond Farm on YouTube, and welcome consulting conversations with producers, lenders, agribusinesses, and professional advisers.
